SUCK No. 1
SUCK No. 1
Issue 1 of the legendary SUCK magazine, a black sheep of the already subversive underground press scene of the day. Published by a collective of artists, writers, and thinkers, including Perfect Lives regular Heathcote Williams, SUCK focused on discussions on sex, politics, and art, challenging societal norms and giving voice to many 'deviant' ideas and practices. Featured in the paper is a lovely section focussing on dobbing in other countercultural icons sex practices, "Martin Sharp [Oz Editor] does not like giving head, you have been warned'' and Valerie Solanas' 'S.C.U.M. manifesto'. SUCK was banned in England before it's 1969 maiden edition even went to press so it's rare for them to turn up this side of the channel despite it's editorial staff being based here.
An almost pristine copy, folded like all were before being sent out. Some staining on a page or two.
