Nicola L - ICC 1976
Antwerp: Internationaal Cultureel Centrum, 1976. Softcover. 40pp. Text is in English, French and Dutch.
An incredibly scarce exhibition catalogue of the works of the late Nicola L - French Moroccan visual/multidisciplinary artist - at the ICC in Antwerp. Renowned for her portrayal of the female form as an object in her sculptures, Nicola L muddied the boundaries within her own art, and the art world in the main, between art, design and furniture. This exhibition features her work La Chambre en Fourrure (The Fur Room) - a destroyed installation/work posthumously recreated by her sons and local craftsmen from archival photos, at Los Angeles’ The Hammer Museum in 2020. As well as The Red Coat (1969), her most well known communal garment otherwise known as 'Red Coat Same Skin for Everyone' which first appeared onstage during a concert by Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso at the historic 1970 Isle of Wight festival.
